Like most giant dog breeds, the Newfoundland dog breed is known for a gentle temperament. Nana in the original stage version of Peter Pan was a Newfie. Yet though they are as caring as nannies, they aren't always as proper: one of the best-known characteristics of Newfoundlands is their tendency to drool or slobber.
